Help
If you need help using our website, this page should help with some of the main pieces of functionality that users will encounter during their time on the site.
Registering an account
Before you are able to place a bid on any lot in the auction you must first register an account with us. You can do this by clicking the "Login to bid" button on any lots within an auction, or clicking the "Register" button in the top right of the website.
Once you have entered in your account details you will be sent a verification email to the email address entered that will contain a link to verify your account. Once you have clicked this link your account will be verified and you will be able to place bids on lots.
Placing bids on lots
If you find a lot in an auction that you would like to place a bid on, use either the incremental bids or an automated maximum bid to register yourself into the auction for the lot.
Before being able to place a bid, you will see that the auction Terms & Conditions will need to be agreed to first, these can differ from the generic site Terms & Conditions.
To place a default increment bid, select the Bid £ button. The bracketed amount, for example (£50.00), includes any VAT and premiums included with the hammer price of the lot.
Bid increments can change, by default, the matrix for this is as follows:
Bid increment = 2 if Price is between 0 and 20.
Bid increment = 5 if Price is between 20 and 50.
Bid increment = 10 if Price is between 50 and 100.
Bid increment = 20 if Price is between 100 and 200.
Bid increment = 50 if Price is between 200 and 500.
Bid increment = 100 if Price is over 500.
To place a maximum bid (a maximum amount you would like to bid up to on a lot that will place automatic bids on a lot for you), type in the total amount you would like to spend on the lot - up to a default cap of 20 times the current price (e.g. if current price is £10, the cap of the maximum bid will be £200), this may vary auction to auction. Premiums and VAT will be added to the hammer price after this bid is set.
If the bid you have entered falls between an increment zone (as previously mentioned above), you will be prompted to enter a suggested amount (that is as close to your entered bid as possible) that works with the matrix.
You will be notified by email when you are outbid on a lot that you have placed a bid on.
You will be notified by email when you win a lot that you have placed a bid on.
Won Lots
If you are the winning bid on a lot when the auction finishes, you will be notified by email which lot(s) you have won and that you will receive an invoice as soon as the auction is finalised. If you want more information on when an auction is going to be finalised, get in touch with us.
If you wish to view all of your lots that you have won on our site, log in to your account and select the "Won Lots" page under your account dropdown in the top right (Hello "yourname").
This page is separated into two sections:
"Won lots awaiting confirmation" - This section is for showing you any lots that you have won but are not yet finalised, how much you will be expected to pay and when your winning bid was placed.
"My Orders" - This is where finalised orders show, including all information and the status of the lots payment and collection. You can select the "Actions" dropdown to view more details on these lots, such as the hammer price, any VAT owed along with the percentage and monetary value of the buyers premium and it's VAT on the lot.
Paying for a lot online
Once your lot has been won and the auction has been finalised, you will receive an email invoice. This invoice will have a link to the below page - your "Won Lots" page which provides you with the payment "Pay Now" button. On the bottom half of the (Won Lots) page you will see the "My Orders" section - this will show you all of your lots that you have won on our site, whether they are finalised or not yet.
To pay for a lot, select the "Pay Now" button in the lot record; this will take you to our payment gateway Stripe - where you can enter your card details to pay for the lot. Once you have paid for a lot the status will go green and will be marked as "Paid" - if the transaction hasn't gone through then the button will stay red - if you have difficulty with this then get in touch with us.
Once you have paid for a lot you can call us or email us to book a slot in for collection.
